The Secret to Success- (straight out of my journal)
A few hundred years ago, Ben Franklin shared the secret of his success with the world. He said, "never leave that till tomorrow which you can do today". Being one of the most respected men in history, you would think that more people would take his advice seriously. Procrastinate? Yes. We all procrastinate, but why? I think that it has a lot to do with fear. Fear of making decisions, fear of failure, & fear of rejection. We can't let these things get in our way of living. We've been told our whole lives: "he who hesitates is lost" & "the early bird catches the worm". Our elders, teachers, philosophers... they've all continuously warned us about wasted time & yet many fail to listen. Sometimes we just have to learn things the hard way. We have to make mistakes in order to truly understand Ben's logic. It's just important to remember that even the biggest failure beats the hell out of never trying.

Create Positive Change
Leadership 101: I recently attended a conference called NCSL (National Center for Student Leadership) in Miami, Florida. One of the things that I learned is the fact that our generation doesn't need to push for change... we need to create it. This is one of my absolute favorite quotes & I think it demonstrates our need for excellent leaders who will create positive change in the world around them.
"Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do."-- Steve Jobs
People like to blame the past for their future failures. I refuse to do that. I make sure to learn from my mistakes & the mistakes others. Everyone is always surprised that I don't smoke, drink, steal, cheat... but really why would I want to repeat my families past? I refuse to validate the statistics.
Awhile ago I stumbled across an amazing rapper. The reason he is my favorite is because he's proving people wrong every single day. He is creating change and inspiring others to do the same thing. His name is Logic & you will know him one day.
"So many times did I design a rhyme to blow your mind
Cause I know that I wasn't destined to live a life of crime"
